Dear Parents and Stakeholders,
I hope you are doing well and having a great summer break. I wanted to give you a quick update on our current Covid-19 protocols. I know that many of you have been wondering, especially since this has been a hot topic in the news.
We recently had our monthly school board meeting and the Lidgerwood School Board has decided (as of 8/11/21) that we start our school year with masks/facial coverings as OPTIONAL. As a reminder, if individuals 12 years or older are unvaccinated, they may be a risk and we are strongly recommend that masking would be considered. We will continue to monitor the Covid-19 spread in our local community. Richland County Health has sent us this website to use to help us make determinations: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view
CDC COVID Data Tracker: CDC’s home for COVID-19 data. Visualizations, graphs, and data in one easy-to-use website.
The School Board will review the school’s Restart Plan on a monthly basis and will meet more regularly if necessary.
Covid-19 vaccinations will not be made mandatory for students to attend school. However, anyone 12 years or older who are unvaccinated are at high risk. We will continue to push out vaccine opportunities as they become available. Richland County Health sends updates at least once a week. If we have enough interest, they may even may consider coming out to the school.
Social Distancing is still very important. Our classroom teachers will do their best to distance students (at least 3 feet away) from each other in the classrooms. We will also keep large grouping to a minimum. K-12 lunch times will continue to be slightly staggered.
Handwashing and sanitization remains key! We plan to continue handwashing protocols and nightly school sanitizing. This seemed to work well for us last year.
We have new bottle filling water fountains in the school! Please have your child(ren) bring a water bottle!
I look forward to hearing footsteps in the halls next week! It has been too quiet around here! I will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available.
Have a great week!
